£1000 BOOST FROM LOCAL COMPANY FOR CHARITY ART AUCTION

25/07/2011

Children’s charity, the Caldecott Foundation had a boost of £1000 today for its charity auction dinner to be held on November 16th in London, raising funds for its centenary appeal.

Barry Hayes from local orthodontist Aligndent visited The Caldecott Foundation in Smeeth, taking a tour of the school and met with pupil Chloe who wrote out the cheque for Mr Hayes to sign.

Fundraising Manager Sam Scott said “The £1000 will buy us canvasses and frames which our art students will use to make their own contemporary masterpieces for the auction, to sit alongside beautiful pieces from well known artists. We are also keen to hear from any other local businesses who feel that they can contribute to our auction.”

Tickets for the art auction, being held at Lincoln’s Inn Old Hall cost £100 each and the live auction will be hosted by Terence Rodrigues (ex Director of Christies).

Notes to Editors:

The Caldecott Foundation, based at Smeeth, near Ashford, provides residential care for children aged 5-16 in warm and welcoming homes, with primary and secondary education in the Foundation’s own school and therapies to maximise each individual’s life chances.

The Caldecott Foundation cares for the most vulnerable children in the UK who have suffered cruelty and neglect. It helps children build brighter futures and in 2011 celebrates its Centenary. To mark this special year, they have launched a Centenary Appeal. During 2011, they are aiming to raise £750,000 for projects such as a vocational training unit to help the older children in their care learn skills such as car mechanics, hair and beauty and horticulture. By developing this provision they will arm these young people with the qualifications and confidence they need to succeed.
