Kent charity, The Caldecott Foundation is appealing for walkers and runners to take part in the Rotary Ramble on September 18th and fundraise for the charity’s centenary appeal.
The scenic circular route is along the Wye Downs and heads along the North Downs Way. Walkers will enjoy stunning views across some of Kent’s most beautiful countryside. There is a choice of a five or 10 mile walk, or for the more athletic, a five mile run.
Head of Fundraising, Sam Scott from The Caldecott Foundation said; “2011 is our centenary year and we aiming to raise £750,000 for a vocational training unit to help the older children in our care learn vocational skills. We need the support of sponsorship and donations to help us achieve our goal and are grateful to anyone who walks in aid of us.”
The entry fee is £10 for over 18s and £5 for under 18s and a bacon roll will be available once the ramble is complete. Further information is available at www.thecaldecottfoundation.co.uk/RotaryRamble where an entry form can be downloaded. Notes to Editors:
The Caldecott Foundation, based at Smeeth, near Ashford, provides residential care for children aged 5-16 in warm and welcoming homes, with primary and secondary education in the Foundation’s own school and therapies to maximise each individual’s life chances.
The Caldecott Foundation cares for the most vulnerable children in the UK who have suffered cruelty and neglect. It helps children build brighter futures and in 2011 celebrates its Centenary. To mark this special year, they have launched a Centenary Appeal. During 2011, they are aiming to raise £750,000 for projects such as a vocational training unit to help the older children in their care learn skills such as car mechanics, hair and beauty and horticulture. By developing this provision they will arm these young people with the qualifications and confidence they need to succeed.
