Lucky Supporter Wins A Brand New VW Fox Car

Posted on the 27th of July 2009

A big congratulations goes to Mrs Munn from Tonbridge, who is now the proud owner of a brand new VW Fox car after winning The Heart of Kent Hospice Super Draw Lottery - not that she knows it yet as she is away on holiday and the Hospice have been unable to get hold of her to tell her the good news!

The Heart of Kent Hospice announced their top three Superdraw winners live on KMFM’s Breakfast Show on Saturday morning but when the Hospice called to tell them the good news, they were all away on holiday! The other lucky winners of the top prizes include Mrs Gilham from Maidstone, who scooped second prize of £1,000 cash, and Miss Attwood from Headcorn, who received third prize of £250 cash. In total 24 cash prizes ranging from £1,000 to £10 were won by ticket holders.

The wonderful top prize of a VW Fox car is valued to be in excess of £6000 and was made possible through the generosity of JCB Medway and The Mall Chequers, Maidstone. Graeme Pryke, Hospice Lottery Co-ordinator said “We were really pleased with the number of tickets sold for the Superdraw and were extremely grateful for the generosity of JCB Medway and The Mall Chequers. We couldn’t believe that we couldn’t get through to any of the winners on Saturday morning but it will be a lovely surprise to come home to!”

All three winners of the top prizes were already members of the Hospice lottery so for your chance of winning £1000 each and every week, why not join The Heart of Kent Hospice lottery too. It costs as little as £1 per week to become a member, or £2 per week if you wish to double your chances. All profits raised from the sale of the lottery tickets go directly towards funding the £3m, which needs to be raised each year to continue providing Hospice services to the community.

Notes to Editor

The Heart of Kent hospice is the local hospice caring for seriously ill people and their families from Maidstone, Aylesford and surrounding area. The Hospice is a specialist palliative care unit whose purpose is to provide expert care and support for patients with advanced cancer, motor neurone disease, or other life- threatening illnesses where curative treatment is no longer possible. At any one time the hospice cares for approximately 350 patients through its range of services, including In-Patients Unit, Day Therapy, Family Services and Community Services.

Care and support is also given to families of the patients, including their children. Hospice care is free to those who need it, and this year £3 million is required to cover running costs, and with only 29% generated from statuary funding we continue to be heavily dependant on the generosity of our local community.
