MAIDSTONE’S PAULINE DOING A TRIPLE WHAMMY FOR HOSPICE

Barming resident, Pauline Dunn is going to great lengths to fundraise for the Heart of Kent Hospice by walking and running 25 miles in three separate events this year.

The first event, coming up on May 3rd is the Bluebell Walk, which is an old favourite of Pauline’s and her daughter, The Moonlit Walk on July 4th from Kingshill and the Asics British 10k London run, on July 12th.

“My friends think I am mad!” said Pauline who is 62 and trains regularly with her friends and daughter around the Maidstone area for walking and running events. “I love walking and we always do the Bluebell Walk, now we have added the Moonlit Walk to our regular charity events and it was whilst I phoned up for the information that I found out about the London 10k. My ultimate aim is to do the marathon and the London 10k is a good start. I wanted to fundraise for the Heart of Kent Hospice as I can see the results of what they do within the community. Our local charities need all the help that they can get at the moment and I will be getting some good support from Sainsbury’s, where I work, so I hope to raise a generous fund.

“Not everyone realises what Hospice’s do until they have an experience with a friend or relative and my philosophy is to fundraise when you are fit and healthy for a charity that you may need later in life – they do a wonderful job!”

Pauline will be walking with her daughter in the Bluebell and Moonlit walk, whilst running with friends for the London 10k.

The Bluebell Walk takes place on May 3rd from Harrietsham Village Hall and is an 8.5 mile walk route to see some of the finest bluebells in Kent. Walkers are asked to raise sponsorship if possible and entry for the walk only is £8 adults and £3 children. This entry cost includes a free ploughman’s lunch on return of the walk, sponsored by Tesco, Grove Green.
