Threshold

Threshold was an arts performance collection with a difference that came with the challenge of getting the communications right.

The four events, collectively entitled ‘Threshold’, were performed in domestic home settings in the towns of Folkestone, Ramsgate, Canterbury and Ashford from November to December 2008.

The Brief

The shows used intimate spaces such as lounges, bedrooms and dining tables in order to really engage the audience and send a tingle of emotion down their spines. This was a challenge to communicate to audiences and encourage them to go along and try out something very unique in other people’s homes.

The success of this project was also very important to securing funding for further arts projects leading up to 2012.

The Answer

Pillory Barn created a public relations campaign that informed readers/listeners of the opportunity to see something special, without giving the performance away and enticing them to enter people’s homes for the experience.

The Results

The results were very promising in finding a new audience for such performances that could be built on for future projects.

The results of the PR campaign included a front cover story in the Review Magazine from Kent on Sunday, interviews with BBC Radio Kent and an exclusive story with the Arts Editor from the Thanet Gazette.
