Liv’s week-long work experience at Pillory Barn
Team PB welcomed Liv, a 15-year-old student, for her week-long work experience and introduced her to the day-to-day life of a creative agency. Here’s her feedback.
“I went to Pillory Barn for work experience, I never thought I would enjoy sitting in an office, but this experience really changed my view on how I feel about the working world.
Pillory Barn is such a lovely and welcoming environment, filled with creative, funny, caring and lovely people who all made me feel welcome and kept me busy doing a variety of tasks from SEO and social media to graphic design and helping at the amazing KEIBA awards. I’ve really enjoyed my time here; I’ve learnt so much about what people do in a creative agency and what it’s like working there. I really enjoyed helping at KEIBA and feeling involved in organising the event and discovering the variety of tasks it involves. It was an eye-opening experience.
KEIBA was my favourite activity as I was kept busy throughout the day. I arrived and was asked to stuff 600 envelopes for the guests with Coralie and Hannah. I learnt that ‘following a system is the best way to do things efficiently’ quote by Coralie. After this, we were set to count table chairs and make sure every table had what they needed, this took a lot of concentration. Me and Coralie then put up the pull-up banners and lined them all up but one of them had a missing piece, so I ended up liaising with Julie and Sam to find it and I found this exciting as I love socialising. The last job was to put up the table plans to make sure the guests knew where they were seated. Me and Hannah had to find easels in a hidden cupboard and then put them up, it was really interesting, and I loved it!
I’ll never forget my time here and hope I can come back again when I’m able to work. Pillory barn is the best place for work experience as it really showed me the real world and it also made me more eager to learn more.
Thank you to the lovely people at Pillory Barn for having me and for giving me the best work experience.
